I am in dilemma. Since the past week I am contemplating of what and where to do my subspecialty or further training. Should I do a clinical-based or research-based training???? Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. I am more incline toward research-based training, as it would produce many long term benefits. After all the university has put a real emphasis on research to achieve a research university status. However, I heard that the university is not really supportive to its medical lecturer to pursue a MPhil of PhD degree. Ironic, isn't it. You want to achieve that but you are not supportive on the training. The management must remember that we are clinically trained throughout our medical training, we are not trained to do high impact researches! If you expect us to do a good research and produce a good paper, please be supportive of our intention to pursue in research-based training...it makes sense, isn't it. Ahh..........I am so frustrated. Got a reply from one of the consultant in UK. Now need to see the dean for his greenlight. May Allah opens this path for me, if it is for the best...ameen....
